Doctorate Dr. Wirges
[03/26/2021]
Congratulations to Sascha Wirges who presented and successfully defended his doctoral thesis on "Traffic Scene Perception for Automated Driving using Grid Maps"!
Sascha developed a perception pipeline fusing data from multiple range sensors into a top-view grid map representation (e.g. encoding occupancy and height information) from which he derived a model of the traffic scene. His model uses methods from evidence theory and self-supervised learning to provide information about observability, drivability, traffic participants and generic, unseen obstacles. – Which makes it perfect to be used on Bertha, our experimental vehicle platform.
Sascha, we wish you a great vacation with your family and hope to see you back soon at MRT.
